TEHRAN (IQNA) – Two Spanish parties, Podems and POSE, have joined the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel.

According to Maan news agency, the two parties as well as 58 municipalities and political institutions in the European country are now part of the campaign.

The BDS movement started some fifteen years ago in protest against Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land and has been campaigning for a boycott of all Israeli goods, academic and cultural activities.

In a statement released earlier this month, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet named 112 business entities, in Israel and 18 others in six different countries who have ties with Israeli settlements.

Palestinians hailed the move by the UN rights office describing it as a victory for international law while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the report and said the US government's position on settlements under Donald Trump is more important than the views of UN organizations.

In March 2016, the UN Human Rights Council passed a resolution requesting the compilation of a database listing Israeli activities that raised human rights concerns in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The Israeli regime, the US and the UK for years tried to block the publication of the blacklist.

Experts say the report by the United Nations human rights office on illegal Israeli settlements was a slap in the face for Donald Trump's so-called deal of the century.
